THOUGHTS FROM JACKIE: “In the Center of the Hurricane”

Every hurricane has something at it’s center simply called the eye of the hurricane. A hurricanes eye can be as long as 40 miles in some cases. In the center of the hurricane there can be sunshine, birds, soft winds, there is peace. The storm is still raging. The trial or danger is still close by, but it is possible to be in a place where you are not experiencing the 200MPH winds. This is where God wants us to be in the midst of trial. He wants us to be so aware of Him, the threat around us does not conjure up fear. This my friend is peace that surpasses all understanding. It may in the pounding of life’s storm take some doing to get to the center, but the center is there. Peace is there waiting for you. When you meditate on God’s word, not read it only but meditate, you begin to see your situation as God sees. When you listen to sermons pertaining to your storm over, and over, and over again, you begin to envision victory. When you let your mouth repeat only the outcome you really desire, you will show your trust. God wants you move to the center. He will take care of the storm. He just wants you to learn to jump up in His big arms when trouble comes.

Isaiah 25:3-5

3 Therefore, strong nations will declare your glory;
ruthless nations will fear you.
4 But you are a tower of refuge to the poor, O Lord,
a tower of refuge to the needy in distress.
You are a refuge from the storm
and a shelter from the heat.
For the oppressive acts of ruthless people
are like a storm beating against a wall,
5 or like the relentless heat of the desert.
But you silence the roar of foreign nations.
As the shade of a cloud cools relentless heat,
so the boastful songs of ruthless people are stilled.

Proverbs 10:24-25

24 What the sinful man is afraid of will come upon him, and what is wanted by the man who is right with God will be given to him.

25 When the storm passes, the sinful man is no more, but the man who is right with God has a place to stand forever.

Isaiah 4:5 Then the Lord will cover the whole land of Mount Zion and her people with a cloud of smoke during the day, and a bright fire that shines during the night. The Lord’s shining-greatness will cover everything. 6 It will be a covering from the heat during the day and it will keep the people safe from the storm and the rain.
