THOUGHTS FROM JACKIE: “What Does This Say About You?”

THOUGHTS FROM JACKIE: “What Does This Say About You?”

On August 28th 1955, 14 year old Emmet Till, was killed for playful comments he made to a White woman. Sixty two plus years later an UNARMED Black man is killed every 28 hours. What exactly has changed? People react the same as they did way back when. If you protest they deflect or ignore. If you talk about it you must be angry, militant, and have hate in your heart. They wait hoping to hear the person had a prior record, so they can feel like it was somehow deserved. God has much to say in scripture about deflecting, ignoring, accusing, and self righteousness. Matthew 25, James, and other places explain the price of indifference in the presence of injustice. Is your a Christian outrage only to be expressed when you are effected by injustice? If your heart is not stirred when unarmed men are gunned down like dogs in the street, then how alive is the Holy Spirit in you? If God said in His Word that it bothers Him, and your not bothered, then what does that mean?
