THOUGHTS FROM JACKIE: “Why You Always Pray In Jesus Name”

1 Timothy 2:5
For there is one God and one Mediator between God and men, the Man Christ Jesus,

So many people believe that there are many paths to God. They sincerely believe these paths can be found in various religions. Basically, they believe all religions end up in the same place with the one true God. The Bible doesn’t provide any wiggle room for these false concepts. 1Timothy 2:5 is saying that in order to even communicate with God you need Jesus as your mediator/go between. I’ll get to the reasoning and beauty of this in a moment. Let me first add a few verses of scripture to help solidify that there is but one path to a relationship with God.
Acts 4:8-12 MSG
With that, Peter, full of the Holy Spirit, let loose: “Rulers and leaders of the people, if we have been brought to trial today for helping a sick man, put under investigation regarding this healing, I’ll be completely frank with you—we have nothing to hide. By the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth, the One you killed on a cross, the One God raised from the dead, by means of his name this man stands before you healthy and whole. Jesus is ‘the stone you masons threw out, which is now the cornerstone.’ Salvation comes no other way; no other name has been or will be given to us by which we can be saved, only this one.”

John 16:24
Until now you have asked for nothing in My name; ask and you will receive, so that your joy may be made full.

Mark 16:16-18
16 He who has believed and has been baptized shall be saved; but he who has disbelieved shall be condemned. 17 These signs will accompany those who have believed: in My name they will cast out demons, they will speak with new tongues; 18 they will pick up serpents, and if they drink any deadly poison, it will not hurt them; they will lay hands on the sick, and they will recover.”

Now let’s get to why it is so special to have Jesus as our mediator. Simply put He is the one that died for us and came back to life for us. So He earned the right to be the one who’s Name we use when we pray because no other God, or religion has someone that sacrificed himself on our behalf. The most important part, perhaps, is that we have a holy God. Not just anyone can approach Him. Because of the sacrifice of Jesus for our sins, our impurities are covered in Jesus blood. What’s really great is the blood of Jesus gives us a right to come to God boldly/confidently (Hebrews 4:15-16), when we pray in Jesus’ name He goes to God to assist us. Why seek help from a useless second source when the savior of the world can advocate for you? Let’s let scripture speak and then I’ll finish my thoughts.

Hebrews 7:22-27
so much the more also Jesus has become the guarantee of a better covenant. The former priests, on the one hand, existed in greater numbers because they were prevented by death from continuing, but Jesus, on the other hand, because He continues forever, holds His priesthood permanently. Therefore He is able also to save forever those who draw near to God through Him, since He always lives to make intercession for them. For it was fitting for us to have such a high priest, holy, innocent, undefiled, separated from sinners and exalted above the heavens; who does not need daily, like those high priests, to offer up sacrifices, first for His own sins and then for the sins of the people, because this He did once for all when He offered up Himself.

Romans 8:34
who is the one who condemns? Christ Jesus is He who died, yes, rather who was raised, who is at the right hand of God, who also intercedes for us.

I’ve written some thoughts and shared some verses. It important with all of this that the simplicity of the process of prayer be clear. Find a promise in scripture and pray that promise in Jesus name. Jesus will take your biblical request to God and your request will be granted. Sometimes you receive the request overnight. At other times something may need to be orchestrated on your behalf first. Either way when you do this in faith using Jesus’ name you’ve been heared and will receive the petition you have requested.

1 John 5:14-15
And this is the confidence that we have in him, that, if we ask any thing according to his will, he heareth us: And if we know that he hear us, whatsoever we ask, we know that we have the petitions that we desired of him.
